About washi makers in Ogawa, Japan
As part of my search for artists and artisans to display near San Francisco, after my first visit to Ogawa-city, known for its paper and organic farm of Kaneko, I went back a whole day to meet manufacturers of washi (Japanese paper), biking in sunny summer wet. This town produces among the best paper in the country in an very very ancient tradition. The paper has always been used in interior design: sliding doors, covers walls, lanterns ... and its strength, flexibility and beauty allow limitless creations. Who are the persons who have helped me to better understand the culture of washi?
