Pascal Rochette: a French painter among Brazil's natives
Pascal Rochette is a French artist who lived half his life in Brazil. He embraced the cultures of the country, particularly of those indigenous peoples who inhabit the rainforest on the coast of Bahia state. Much like a Gauguin without pretension, the painter lived two months in the heart of a Pataxó Indian village in the Jaqueira Reseve, to better understand, assimilate, and express the rich traditions of the Pataxó people and the diversity of the rainforest.
